Job Description
The Cloud Engineer I will play a key role in implementing, configuring, and managing Azure cloud infrastructure in a secure, scalable, and compliant manner. This position supports a large public-sector environment and requires collaboration with senior architects, development, and security teams to ensure successful deployment and management of cloud resources.
Only candidates currently residing in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill (Triangle) region will be considered, as in-person interviews and periodic onsite work are required.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the setup and configuration of Azure core subscriptions, resource groups, and cloud environments.

Implement and manage Azure Policies, RBAC permissions, and tagging standards as per governance frameworks.

Deploy and maintain core Azure networking components, including VWAN, Azure Firewall, VNets, NSGs, Private Endpoints, and VPN/ExpressRoute connections.

Configure and support Azure Application Gateways and associated services for secure traffic management.

Contribute to infrastructure automation efforts using Bicep, ARM templates, and PowerShell scripting.

Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity and application performance issues across Azure and on-prem environments.

Participate in incident management and assist in root cause analysis for cloud-related issues.

Monitor Azure environments, configure alerting, logging, and diagnostic tools for proactive issue detection.

Collaborate with architecture, development, and security teams on infrastructure deployments and enhancements.

Enforce and support cloud governance, security, and compliance standards across Azure environments.
Required Qualifications
3+ years of hands-on experience managing and deploying Azure landing zone architectures in enterprise environments.

Strong proficiency in Azure networking, including VWAN, ExpressRoute, VPN, Firewalls, and VNET management.

Experience designing Azure environments following a private-by-default approach and enforcing policies to prevent public exposure.

Proficiency with Azure Policies, Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), and resource tagging strategies.

Solid problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.

AZ-104: Microsoft Certified β Azure Administrator Associate

AZ-305: Microsoft Certified β Azure Solutions Architect Expert

Other relevant Microsoft Azure certifications are a plus.
